See what steps Manchester is taking to ensure the health, safety and wellbeing of all event attendees, organisers and venue staff. Find the latest official UK guidelines and government advice on travel, restrictions and safety measures.
Our industry associations and the government have been working together to create guidelines and risk assessments to help organisers plan for face-to-face events. For more information see the official UK government guidance.
Working with the government, the following trade associations have published guidance on business events, which event organisers and venues should refer to when developing risk assessments.
• The Meetings Industry Association has produced guidance specifically for conferences and meetings venues.
• The Association of Event Organisers will publish guidance specifically for exhibition, trade fairs and consumer shows to reopen.
These guidelines focus on key principles such as clear social distancing regulations and crowd control measures, robust cleaning and sanitation provisions, contact tracing systems for staff and delegates pre and post event, detailed risk assessments and flexible timings to allow staggered delegate arrivals if using public transport.
Greater Manchester hotels, venues and event suppliers have been working diligently to prepare for the return of live events, prioritising safety above all else, while encouraging organisations to enjoy that all important and valuable face-to-face setting.
Our partners at Visit England, in partnership with the national tourist organisations of Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales, have launched a UK-wide industry standard and consumer mark.
The “We’re Good to Go” industry standard and supporting mark means our tourism and event businesses can demonstrate that they are adhering to the respective government and public health guidance, have carried out a coronavirus risk assessment and checked that they have the required processes in place.
The Manchester Convention Bureau is encouraging all our tourism and event suppliers in Greater Manchester to sign and implement this standard as it corresponds directly with the UK government’s official guidance for the sector.
Safety, health and wellbeing are paramount to everything we do at the Manchester Convention Bureau. Our businesses are committed to providing a safe and secure location for you to feel confident in organising your live events.
