Can you tell us about your role at Manchester Convention Bureau?
Senior Client Services Manager – I head up the venue finding service and accommodation booking service team. We provide a complimentary service to event organisers sourcing venues for their events, conferences, dinners as well as negotiate rates and availability for delegate accommodation. It is important to build rapport both with our members to ensure we are providing the best options for your clients. I regularly meet with member venues/hotels to discuss opportunities and performance on previous events, as well as keeping each other up to date on current promotions and activities within our respective companies. I attend networking events to assist in promoting our services as a Convention Bureau and generate new leads for the team to work on. We look for companies based in Manchester or events which are coming to Manchester to proactively promote our services and the wider support of Marketing Manchester.
What are you working on at the moment and what would you say are your biggest challenges?
Working on a project called the CyberFirst Competition which is due to take place in Manchester next year. The competition is being held as a wide initiative from GCHQ which promotes and encourages young females to follow a career in cyber and technology. The finalists, once announced will be coming to Manchester to complete the final stages of the competition. It is a really exciting and inspiring event and I am delighted to be able to support the team with their requirements. There are a number of variables which need to be coordinated which can be challenging but also make it much more interesting to be a part of!
