Here is a roundup of some of the exciting new and developing hotels for 2020.
The Niu Loom opened in January, located on Cheetham Hill in North Manchester. The 135-bedroom hotel is owned by one of the largest German family run hotel groups - Novum Hospitality. The hotel is uniquely designed to feature the local neighbourhood’s culture in their interior designs.

Opening on 14 February 2020 on Portland Street, Bespoke Hotel’s Hotel Brooklyn will offer 189 innovative and stylish bedrooms, events space for up to 220 people, as well as a panoramic rooftop bar, known as Brooklyn Heights, and restaurant, named Runyon’s. A homage to the New York City borough of Brooklyn between 1870-1910, around the time when the Brooklyn bridge was built in 1883, Hotel Brooklyn promises to stand as a hive of theatricality and energy alongside its sister property Hotel Gotham, which opened on King Street in 2016.
StayCity Aparthotels are expanding with their new property opening on Cable Street in the Northern Quarter. Boasting 224-bedrooms, this will be the companies second aparthotel in Manchester’s City Centre. We see the Northern Quarter continuing to expand, with Hampton by Hilton opening in May on Rochdale Road.
September will welcome Cotton Yard apartment hotel located on Chorlton Street. Housing a mix of studios, suites and eight duplex penthouses. A former cotton finishing yard, the warehouse has been transformed into boutique serviced apartments surrounded by the Village Quarter giving them a unique character and charm.

Set within the former home of the Manchester Stock Exchange, every detail of the new Stock Exchange Hotel has been meticulously considered to create a five-star 40-room boutique hotel. Located on Norfolk Street, in the heart of central Manchester, the Edwardian Baroque building - with its original marble, brass and woodwork – has been carefully restored to breathe new life into one of the city’s most historically symbolic institutions. Opened in late 2019, the hotel includes an exciting restaurant concept called The Bull & Bear, overseen by renowned British chef Tom Kerridge and located within the grand domed room which was previously the trading floor.
The Lowry Hotel have introduced a new and exciting concept, ‘Meetings Inspired, By The Lowry Hotel’. This allows businesses to create perfectly bespoke meetings and events, tailored exactly to their needs. Including a launch of bespoke free-from menus, catering for dietary requirements will come with ease. The five-star hotel are also delving into using the latest technology to enhance conferencing and events so that clients can personalise their meeting space.
The Midland is evolving. They are investing £14 million into their hotel whilst respecting their history as an iconic presence in Manchester since 1903. The hotel will be transformed to meet the expectations and changing needs of their guests and will become the place to see and be seen in Manchester. Their brand-new look bedrooms will be open from February and a new bar, restaurant and lobby from June 2020.
