While the AO Arena is famous for its music visitors and large production shows, did you know the AO also host a wide range of conferences and sport events across the year? Autumn is set to be a big one for the arena, with the long awaited return of the Davis Cup. Along with a plethora of exciting sporting events and exclusive conferences, some of which the Manchester Convention Bureau helped bid for them to come to the city. Here are some to look out for this Autumn:
1. Davis Cup 10 – 15 September
The Lexus GB Davis Cup team set to complete in Group D of the Davis Cup Finals Group Stage in Manchester in September. Jack Draper, Cam Norrie, Dan Evans, Joe Salisbury and Neal Skupski have been selected by captain Leon Smith to take on Argentina, Canada and Finland from 10-15 September at the AO Arena, with the top two teams qualifying for the Final 8 in Malaga. Secured by Manchester Convention Bureau for the second year running - 2023 saw a triumphant return of the Davis Cup to Manchester for the first time since 1994.
This year’s event begins on Tuesday 10 September, with the Lexus GB Davis Cup team beginning their campaign on Wednesday 11 September against last year’s semi-finalists Finland.
2. Herbalife Conference – 27 - 29 September
The American Multinational multilevel dietary supplements company Herbalife is bringing their annual conference extravaganza to Manchester this year, for two days starting 27 September. Employees from across the world will descend to Manchester to celebrate the years achievements. With live music and a party atmosphere, it’s a must-go event for all Herbalife patrons.
3. This is Manchester Awards – 14 November
Showcasing the incredible talent that Manchester has at its heart, This Is Manchester Awards will champion and recognise individuals and organisations rooted in Manchester within fashion, entertainment, sports, hospitality, food and drink, the nighttime economy as well and community champions. Hosted at AO Arena on 14 November, celebrate the best of Manchester at this years inaugural awards.
4. England Vs Jamaica Netball – 16 – 17 November
England Netball have announced that the Vitality Roses will play Jamaica's Sunshine Girls in a new four-year international test series played across both countries. This announcement marks the start of a brand-new four-year series called the Vitality Netball Horizon Series that will be held across England and Jamaica, with two home matches to be played in England and two away matches played in Jamaica for the next four years.
Bringing the next match to home soil, England Vitality Roses will take on Jamaica Sunshine Girls on 16 and 17 November.
