England Netball Test Match – November 2024 

The English Netball team took on Jamaica for their final two matches of the Vitality Netball Horizon Series at AO Arena in November last year. England took the lead in the four-match series with a hard-fought win in match two.  

International Women’s Day Football Summit – March 2024 

Old Trafford welcomed over 150 guests from the worlds of sport, business, and media for the International Women’s Day Football Summit. The event tackled key topics shaping the future of women’s football, from fan engagement to youth development and commercial growth, under the inspiring theme “Stronger Together”. It was a timely reminder that progress on and off the pitch is driven by collaboration. 

Women’s Run Series – April 2025 

On 20 April 2025, Heaton Park played host to the Women’s Run Series, an inclusive event designed by women, for women. Runners of all abilities took on 5K and 10K routes, supported by thoughtful touches like free sanitary products, modest changing facilities, and an atmosphere that prioritised safety and encouragement.  

World Sevens Football (W7F) Tournament – May 2025 

Manchester United Women travelled to Portugal in May to compete in the inaugural World Sevens Football (W7F) tournament. Featuring elite clubs from around the world and a prize pot of £2.5 million, the seven-a-side format offered a thrilling new twist on the game. United’s participation highlighted the city’s growing footprint in innovative formats of women’s sport. 

Women’s Rugby World Cup Matches – August 2025 

The Women’s Rugby World Cup brought elite rugby action to the Salford Community Stadium on 23 and 30 August 2025. Teams including Australia, Samoa, Scotland, Wales, Canada, and Fiji played to passionate crowds, while a fan zone in Piccadilly Gardens brought the festival atmosphere right into the heart of Manchester. It was a showcase not just of skill and strength, but of the sport’s growing popularity.

ICC Women’s T20 Cricket World Cup – June 2026 

Emirates Old Trafford has been selected as the official host venue for next year’s ICC Women’s T20 World Cup. The announcement marks a significant milestone for both the historic venue and women’s cricket in the North West, reinforcing the Club’s commitment to advancing gender equality in sport and providing a world-class stage for the global game. From 13 to 26 June, catch five matches at Emirates Old Trafford.
